Founded in 1924, the Michigan Council of Teachers of English (MCTE) is an organization for K-16 English language arts teachers and English educators in Michigan. MCTE provides professional development for English language arts teachers and English education professors throughout the state. Our goals are to disseminate current English education scholarship and assist English language arts teachers as they make decisions about pedagogical practices, student populations, and teaching philosophies.

This network is designed to help us achieve our goals by providing information about our organization and by offering a place for English teachers across Michigan to communicate with one another and share resources. Membership gives you subscriptions to our publications, Michigan English Teacher and Language Arts Journal of Michigan, along with discounted admission to our annual conferences.
